Hybrid Room Setup and Features
The standard configuration of Room 10 allows for the following hybrid capabilities:
Presenters can view online students and participants via the ceiling mounted TCL TV
Online Students can view Presenters via Jabra Webcam on the bottom of the ceiling mounted TCL TV
In-Person Students can view Online students via the LG TV furthest from the entrance
Online Students can view In-Person students via the Logitech Webcam at the top of the LG TV closest to the entrance
Presenters can display their presentations for in-person students via display through LG TV closest to the entrance
Presenters, Online students, and In-Person students can be heard through the Nureva Speaker/Microphone bar
In order to enable the full-functionality of these classroom features, please do not move or adjust the orientation or position of these items without consulting a member of the Regent College IT Team first. It is important that the room be reset to the proper settings between classes.
Please note that any changes to the setup of the classroom may alter or disable the use of these hybrid features during your class
Specific Tech Instructions for Hybrid
IMPORTANT: Turn on the ceiling mounted TCL TV first
Turn on LG TVs using the LG remote
Turn on the closest TV to the entrance first
Then turn on the further TV from the entrance
You may need to bring the LG remote close to the TV
The black Nureva remote controls the speaker bar
The volume can be increase and the speaker/microphone bar can be muted using this remote
Please check the settings on the Zoom Rooms control tablet before making any changes with the Nureva remote
Using the Projector - Non-Hybrid
1. Find the projector remote on top of the black AV box and point it toward the projector. Then press ON.
2. The projector will beep, and after a few seconds its power button will turn blue.
Note: When the projector turns on, you may see the following message: HDMI | No Input. Check the input terminal. Please ignore this and proceed to the next step.
3. Plug your computer into the AV box's VGA or HDMI port.
The box's input panel should automatically select the correct source. (The indicator light will turn blue for HDMI, or red for VGA.)
If necessary, press the Input Select button to manually switch between an HDMI or VGA connection.
4. Your screen should now be visible on the projector. If it isn't, open your computer's display settings to mirror or extend your display.

Windows 10 users: press Windows Key + P to mirror (i.e. "duplicate") or extend your display. Click here for instructions.
Windows 7 users: press Windows Key + P to mirror (i.e. "duplicate") or extend your display. Click here for instructions.
5. Remember to turn off the projector and return the cables to their original places when you're done!
Press STANDBY on the remote to turn it off. A confirmation request will appear on the screen. Press STANDBY again to confirm.
If you have plugged any new cables into the AV box, unplug them
If you have unplugged any new cables from the AV box, plug them back in
Finding Cables & Display Adapters
There should be one VGA and one HDMI cable underneath (or already plugged into) the AV box.
If you need a display adapter, please ask for one at Reception. If Reception is closed, please ask Facilities instead.
If you’re using a VGA cable and need sound, plug a 3.5mm audio cable from your computer into the AV box's AUDIO IN jack. The VGA cable under the AV box should have audio cable attachments at each end.
Using the Sound System - Non-Hybrid
1. Connect your device to the AV box's input panel with either an HDMI cable, or a 3.5mm audio cable.
If you're using an HDMI cable, plug it into the HDMI In port.
If you’re using a VGA cable and need sound, plug a 3.5mm audio cable from your computer into the AUDIO IN jack. The VGA cable under the AV box should have audio cable attachments at each end.
2. Find the sound amplifier (Factor X-7240-4) in the AV box, and turn on its POWER switch.
Set the AUX dial to about 80%.
Set the MASTER dial to about 50%
3. Start playing audio on your device.
Set your device's volume to about 90%.
If your media player app has its own volume control, set that to about 90% as well.
4. Turn up the MASTER dial on the amplifier to hear the audio through the ceiling speakers.
There are no speakers at the front, so you'll need to stand at the centre of the room to test the volume level.
5. Using a microphone or instrument with a quarter inch jack
Open the AV Box to access the back of the Sound Amplifier
Note the selected port and plug in the device
Control the volume using the corresponding knob on the front of the Sound Amplifier
Note that if there is already a Shure Headset Microphone in the room, this is for hybrid classes and should not be unplugged and utilized with the non-hybrid classroom
Please contact Regent IT with at least several hours in advance of your class or meeting in order to borrow and set up wired or wireless microphones or instruments to run through the Sound Amplifier
6. Please make sure to return the Sound Amplifier to original state when you have finished using it
Make sure to power off the Sound Amplifier
If you have plugged any new cables into the Sound Amplifier, unplug them
If you have unplugged any new cables from the Sound Amplifier, plug them back in
Troubleshooting - Non-Hybrid
If the projector remote isn't working:
Remember to point the remote at the projector, not at the AV box.
If there is still no response, the batteries may need to be replaced. There should be extra AAA batteries at Reception.
If the remote still doesn't work, then manually press the blue button at the bottom of the projector to turn it on.
If your computer screen doesn't appear on the projector:
Check if light on the projector's power button is blue. If it's red (or off), the projector needs to be powered on.
Make sure that the projector's input source is set to HDMI1 even if you're connected via a VGA cable.
Press the SOURCE button on the remote to check the input source.
Check if your computer's display settings are set to "Mirror" or "Extend" your display. If "Extend" is enabled, try moving the mouse cursor off to the left or right of your screen until it appears on the projector. If this doesn't work, try the "Mirror" option instead.
Check that you have the correct display adapter. If you don't, please ask for one from Reception, Facilities (after office hours), or the IT Help Desk (ext. 372 / [email protected]).
If the sound isn't working:
Try increasing the master volume on your computer.
If you are using the VGA cable then remember to plug a 3.5mm audio cable from your computer into the AV box's headphone jack. (There should be audio cable plugs at both ends of the VGA cable.)
If you're using a MacBook with a Mini-DisplayPort > HDMI adapter and there's still no sound, try using a 3.5mm audio cable to connect your computer to the AV box.
For certain older MacBook models, the Mini-DisplayPort cannot transmit sound. Click here to view a list of those models.
Try adjusting the AUX and Master volume dials on the amplifier in the AV box.
