Chapel - Managing Lighting
House Lighting
Lutron Light Panel
The primary house lighting is controlled by a Lutron panel on the back wall of the chapel
Each set of lights has a number corresponding to its location
The lights at the front of the House begin at 1 and move to 11 at the back
There is also a set of side lights
Each set of lights has a number corresponding to its type
S indicates spotlights
F indicates floodlights
The control for each light include an On button (1), an Off button (2), and Dimmer buttons (3) for adjusting overall lighting
For events that primarily focus on the stage, please see the following notes on house lighting
Pre Event: Lights 1-4 OFF, Lights 5-10 ON, Lights 11 and Sides ON
At Start of Event: Lights 1-4 ON, Lights 5-10 OFF, Lights 11 and Sides AS NEEDED
Stage Lighting
Podium Track Lights
For events that utilize a speaker at the podium, the chapel is equipped with a set of dimmable track lights
The control for these lights is a simple box on the back wall of the chapel under the Lutron panel with an On/Off switch and an Analog Slider for the Dimmer settings
Chauvet DJ Spotlights
For formal events, such as Evening Public Lectures, the chapel is equipped with a pair of Chauvet DJ Spotlights
The Spotlights emit a high pitched ringing noise which can cause some audio distress for some people, but in the author's 2 years of operating the spotlights, this noise has only elicited 5 or so comments from audience participants
Regent IT has contacted the manufacturers of these Spotlights for support with no avail
The Spotlights can be manually adjusted to change their focus
Please contact Regent IT about making any changes to the physical orientation of the Spotlight ([email protected])
Spotlights utilize translucent slides called Gels to control the primary color of the Spotlight. These Gels degrade with time and need to be replaced at least once a year.
The Spotlights are controlled at two separate levels
Chauvet DJ Control Panels
In the back closet of the chapel there is a control panel for each spotlight in the bottom of the large AV Control Box where the network Switch is location
Please note that printed labels on the panels do not correspond to the chapel settings for these control panels; rather, the taped labels indicate the controls for the spotlights
The panel has an On/Off button (Manual RGB) indicated by the On tape label
Please only adjust the Dim ("Red" slider) setting on these panels to control the brightness of the spotlight
The Color ("Green" slider) and Strobe ("Blue" slider) settings should not be touched and should be returned to the settings in the attached photo if they have been adjusted
The picture displayed here shows the proper settings for the spotlights
Bestten Remote Control
The spotlights themselves are plugged into IR controlled Bestten power outlets so that they can be turned on and off from the sound desk and their settings need not be changed on the panels for most events
This remote is kept in the back closet of the chapel when not in use
Rather than having an On/Off button for each outlet, each outlet has an On button on the left of the remote and an Off button on the right side
The right spotlight (as seen from the back of the house) corresponds to #1 on the Remote
The left spotlight (as seen from the back of the house) corresponds to #2 on the Remote
Sometimes it is necessary to take a step or two from the audio desk toward the spotlight in order for the remote control to reach the outlets
Yorkville Lights
For backlighting the stage, particularly for video-recorded events, the chapel is equipped with two Quad Strips of Yorkville lights
These lights have a high level of customization and can be synced with an App on the Chapel iPad Pro
Because of the complexity of these lights, it is best to only use these lights after specific training or after consulting the instruction manual for Yorkville
The brightness and color of each of the four lights can be adjusted
Additionally, the strip as a whole can be set to fade or change color at intervals or according to sound queues
Please see the Yorkville manual for instructions on these settings
Please take caution when using these lights as they will briefly light up very brightly when turned on regardless of the current settings of the strip
Please do not point these lights directly toward any eyes or cameras, they are to be used as backlighting
Please take caution when using these lights as they operate at a high temperature and should not have any material leaning against them or touching them for any extended period of time
