Chapel - Projector
Using the Chapel requires a 2-hour training session with Regent IT. Email [email protected] to book a session. Using the Chapel without proper training is not allowed.
Raising and Lowering the Projector Screen
In the AV room behind the sound desk there is a control panel mounted to the server rack that controls the projector screen
There is an additional control panel at the front of the chapel next to the the storage closet doors
Press the Up or Down buttons to raise and lower the projector screen
The Up and Down buttons on this control panel are programmed to raise the projector screen into its stored position and lower the screen to the proper length for the projector display on a single press
If there is a need to lower or raise the projector to a different height, press the middle Stop button as the projector screen is moving
Using the Projector Remote
The remote for the Projector can be found in the back closet of the Chapel. There is a backup at Reception.
Stand under the projector and point the remote up toward the projector to use the remote
Turn on the projector by pressing the white ON button on the top right
Please note that the projector takes a while to warm up and display
Because of this, it is best to turn on the projector before the start of an event
Turn off the projector by pressing the black STANDBY button on the top left. This will cause a confirmation message to appear on screen. Press the STANDBY button again to confirm and turn off the projector.
The FREEZE and BLANK buttons offer helpful functions for the projector
These buttons are found in the row directly beneath the STANDBY and ON buttons
Pressing the FREEZE button causes the projector to continue projecting the current image until the FREEZE button is pressed again
This can be helpful if a presenter or AV worker needs to quickly exit the slides or jump ahead or backward to check something in the presentation without those changes appearing on the screen
Please note that when the FREEZE button is pressed again, whatever feed is being sent to the projector will resume
Pressing the BLANK button causes the projector to temporarily blank the screen and project nothing until the BLANK button is pressed again
This can be helpful if the presentation does not start until the middle of an event and the screen should remain blank, for transitions from on presentation to another, or in case the screen suddenly needs to be turned off if for example a private chat or email notification preview pops up
The projector should always be on input #2. If it isn't, change the input source using the numbers on the keypad by pressing "2".
Mirrored Projector Display
The projector max resolution is 1920 x 1200 (16/10 aspect) using the Podium HDMI.
The max resolution for AirPlay is 1920 x 1080 (16/9 aspect)
Display from the projector is mirrored to the TV in the front row of seating directly in front of the podium
Please note that this screen displays what is shown on the projector; this does not necessarily mean it displays what has been selected to display on a live-stream.
Please see below for an explanation of what signal is sent where
MuxLab Matrix Switch
What the MuxLab Switch Does
All means of streaming media in the chapel send their signal to a central MuxLab HDMI 4x2 Matrix Switch on the audio desk
This device splits the signal and allows users to select different signals for different outputs
How to use the MuxLab Switch
Make sure the MuxLab switch is powered on by flipping the switch on the lefthand side
The power cord plugs into the far right port on the back of the switch
The Power LED should shine green when powered on
Note the signal sources as labeled and the output destinations as labeled on the top of the switch
These sources and destinations are plugged into the corresponding input and output ports on the back of the switch
Please do not move or switch these cables without consulting with the IT team
There are four signal source for sharing media in the chapel:
Airplay
Podium HDMI
Video Computer
Laptop or DVD/BluRay Player
Determine which source should be sent where
As labeled on the switch, Output 1 corresponds to the signal which is being sent to the Projector and the mirrored TV on the floor and Output 2 corresponds to the signal which is being sent to the SlingStudio for live-streaming
If an event needs to display the same media on the Projector screen and on the Stream, ensure that the same option is selected for both Output 1 and Output 2
In order to send a signal to an output destination press the button on the left side of the grouping until the corresponding source LED is lit up for the Output group
For example, in this picture, both the Projector (Output Group 1) and Stream (Output Group 2) are set to display signal from input 4, which corresponds to the Laptop or DVD/BluRay Player
Sharing from Mac, iPad, or iPhone via Airplay
Connect the device to the utgr Wi-Fi network.
Note: only Regent staff and faculty have access to the utgr network.
Please contact the IT Help Desk at least 3 days in advance in order to set up a guest lecturer with AirPlay.
Turn on the Projector and/or mirror TV
Select option 1 for the desired output group(s)
The output location should display an Apple TV menu
Navigate to the device's AirPlay controls
If using a Mac, click the AirPlay icon on the menu bar of the Mac.
If using an iPad or iPhone, tap Screen Mirroring on the Control Center
Select Chapel.
If this is the first time this device has connected to the Apple TV in the Chapel, the device requires inputting a four-digit code displayed on the Apple TV Menu
The display should now be mirrored via AirPlay
Note on AirPlay compatibility: If the AirPlay status button does not appear in the Mac menu bar, this Mac may not support it. To find out if it does, click on the Apple icon, select “System Preferences”, and then click “Displays.” If there’s no checkbox for “Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available”, then this Mac doesn’t support AirPlay. Please share content via the Podium HDMi cable or the Audio Table Laptop connection

The Screen Mirroring Menu on an iPhone
Sharing via the Podium HDMI Cable
Turn on the Projector and/or mirror TV
Select option 2 for the desired output group(s)
Plug the HDMI cable into the podium, using the the right angle adaptor as displayed in the picture
Plug the other end into the device. The podium has a USB-C adaptor, in case the device does not have an HDMI out port
Select external display preferences for the device
Sharing via the Video Computer
Turn on the Projector and/or mirror TV
Select option 3 for the desired output group(s)
Turn on the monitor on the righthand side of the audio desk
The computer attached to this monitor is located under the desk
If there is no display on the monitor, press the "1" option on the bottom of the monitor display just to the left of the power button
The video monitor should be displayed to the output location
Sharing via the Audio Desk HDMI for Laptop or DVD/BluRay
Turn on the Projector and/or mirror TV
Select option 4 for the desired output group(s)
Plug the Audio desk HDMI cable into the Laptop or DVD/BluRay Player
The Audio Desk has a USB-C adaptor, in case the device does not have an HDMI out port
If using a DVD/BluRay player, plug the device into one of the sockets on the bottom of the desk (shown in the picture)
A laptop can be plugged in here in order to keep it charged
If using a Laptop, select external display preferences for the device
The device should display for the desired output group(s)
Using the Chapel Clicker
The closet behind the AV Desk has a Logitech clicker that can be used to advance slides
The clicker has a USB attachment that it stored on the base of the clicker remote
Removing this USB attachment allows access to the charging port for the clicker in the hollow base of the remote
To use the clicker, plug the USB attachment into the desired computer
The USB attachment can be plugged into a dongle/adapter if the computer does not have accessible USB ports
Please note that for the click to work, the application the clicker is operating on must be the last application clicked on the computer
For example, if the AV technician clicks on an audio player on the laptop which is controlling the PowerPoint, the technician must click back onto the PowerPoint slides in order for the clicker to resume advancing the slides
Click any button to wake up the clicker
The center button advances slides
The bottom button reverses slides
The top button activates zoom/spotlight/pointer
In order to use this feature, the computer the USB is plugged into must have the Logitech Spotlight software installed
It is not necessary to point the remote at the computer for it to work as it is not a directional infrared remote
